Anurag Chatterjee is a PDL Fellow at Columbia University, pursuing an MS in Computer Engineering. He holds a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering from the National University of Singapore (NUS), with a double major in Innovation & Design and a specialization in the Internet of Things (IoT) - an interdisciplinary foundation at the intersection of technology, business, and design thinking.
His experience spans across Energy, Digital Transformation, and Intelligent Systems, with a focus on systems engineering, hardware, applied ML, IoT, and human-centered design — across Fortune 500 multinationals, corporate innovation labs, deep tech startups, and academic research, in both Singapore and the United States. He spent two years as a Mechatronics Engineer at Schlumberger, developing digital systems and sensors for oilfield deployments in Middle East and Asia, and contributed to aerospace design thinking initiatives at Thales. Earlier startup roles took him across various deep tech projects - AI/ML for construction safety, IoT for hospital fall detection, electronics for mechanical vibration control and EdTech.
At Columbia, his research has spanned convex optimization for embedded DC microgrid and data center applications in the Motor Drives and Power Electronics Lab, GPU hardware optimization and applied ML for cardiac arrythmia prediction and classification in the Ultrasound Elasticity Imaging Lab's Cardiac group.
Anurag has learnt and built essential leadership and communication skills through his active involvement in various initiatives back home in Singapore and US - ranging from venture capital clubs, student government, startup mentorship roles, competitive engineering teams, hackathons (as participant and judge), community service (Rotary and Youth Associations in Singapore), public speaking (Toastmasters) and his role as Electrical & Computer Engineering Alumni Ambassador for National University Of Singapore (Class of 2023). He is the founder of Destination Excellence, a personal growth blog where he captures his learning journey, successes and failures of his leadership journey through blog posts, poetry and short stories. Having lived across India, Egypt, Singapore, and now the U.S., he brings a global perspective shaped by curiosity and discipline as well as continuous learning.
In his free time, he is an avid reader, jazz enthusiast, cricket fan, chess player, and DIY investing, guided by a simple philosophy: PHD — Passion, Hard Work, and Dedication in all aspects of life.
