Mohak Sharma is a PDL Fellow at Columbia University, where he is pursuing an MS in Computer Science. He holds a B.Tech in Computer Science from Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University in Delhi, India. His interests center on exploring intention and what it entails for humans and machines alike.

Through May 2027, he is conducting research at Columbia’s LIINC lab, supported by an Advanced Masters Research Award. His work focuses on decoding human intent from EEG and gaze, with the goal of enabling people to guide robots as naturally as they move their own bodies. In industry, he approaches questions of human decision-making from a other angle as a Founding Engineer at Subconscious AI, a causal AI platform that uses experiments with simulated customers to understand what drives their choices. By applying causal inference, the platform helps distinguish what influences a decision from what merely correlates with it. Mohak owns the engineering of new features and works directly with enterprise clients, including Fortune 500 companies, helping them turn their data into better-informed business decisions.

He also loves helping people find their footing and move forward in their own journeys. As a Graduate Admissions Ambassador at Columbia, he welcomes and mentors’ prospective students as they consider their next chapter. His commitment to supporting others has grown through Columbia’s Global Leadership Advancing Student Success (GLASS) program. The International Students and Scholars Office (ISSO) recognized his contributions with the GLASS Tier 3 award.

Outside work, you’ll find him in long conversations about psychology and philosophy, reading Marvel and DC comics, or playing badminton and cycling. He writes poetry, takes photographs, listens to music, and travels, all as forms of expression. Across these pursuits, he enjoys exploring what moves people and how they express it.
